Review: DMGM Shimmer and Shine Loose Powder in Pearl...!!!

17:56:00

Hey beauties,

Hope you all are doing well. Am obsessed with highlighters currently and I just love trying different forms of highlighters by different brands. Therefore today I have a loose shimmer powder review to share with you all. This one is the Shimmer and Shine Loose Powder in shade "Pearl" by DMGM Cosmetics. So let's get to the review and see what I think about this shimmer powder by DMGM....

Texture of DMGM Shimmer and Shine Loose Powder in shade "Pearl"
Am not really a fan of shimmery products but this product by DMGM seemed very interesting to me because of DMGM's following claims about this product:
"An ultra - sheer fine loose powder to set your make up for the day, with a purely professional touch. Shimmer & Shine loose powder illuminates skin with a touch of fine micronized pearls to enhance your look. The sheer powder blends easily with skin for a natural, glowing finish"
My Experience:

As per the colors shown on their website, I was expecting this shade "Pearl" to be more of a champagne colored loose shimmer powder. But it actually is a pearly pink kind of shade. The powder has really fine texture and has some very fine micro-shimmer particles in it which is good. I don't like products with heavy chunks of shimmer or glitter in them. It comes with a sponge applicator at the top of the jar that makes the application task easier and you don't need to use a brush to apply this powder. The powder feels very smooth and silky. It feels light-weight on the skin, blends really easily and does not enhance any dry patches on the skin.

This particular shade "Pearl" is sadly not very pigmented and does not really show up on my skin after blending. When swatched on arm or applied on face directly from the sponge or a brush, it appears as a nice pearly pink shade with subtle sheen and some very fine shimmer particles. But once you blend it, the color totally disappears. The only thing which is visible after blending is some fine shimmer particles with some very light and not much noticeable sheen. I was expecting it to be more pigmented and was expecting it to add some more glow to my face which it sadly failed to provide. The staying power of this powder is just average too and it lasted on my skin for about 3-4 hours. Here is this powder swatched on my arm without blending...
DMGM Shimmer and Shine Loose Powder in "Pearl" Swatched on Arm
Overall, am not really impressed with this product and this is the only product by DMGM that didn't work well for me. I was expecting it to be more pigmented. But once blended, it fails to show up on my skin. However, it is a versatile product which can be mixed with foundation for that slightly dewy look, can be used as a body shimmer or can be dusted all over your face light-handedly to set your makeup and to add some fine light reflecting shimmer particles. But it is definitely not an effective highlighter or an illuminating powder.

The Goods:
  • A versatile product
  • Contains very fine shimmer particle that reflect light
  • Can be used as body shimmer
  • Feels light weight on skin
  • Blends easily
  • Comes with a sponge applicator

The Bads:
  • Does not show up on the skin after blending
  • Not an effective highlighter or illuminator for face or cheeks
  • Average staying power
  • Expensive

  4. I saw it on the DMGM website. I think it is supposed to be used as an illuminator instead of a highlighter.

    1. Agreed. But this doesn't even perform well as an illuminating powder.

  7. Hmmm seems like an average product and for that much price, I think something better would be available in the drugstore than this but holly molly, the swatch is beautiful. Too bad about the poor pigmentation.

    1. The swatch looks beautiful without blending. I wanted to show how it looks after blending too but my camera just refused to capture that lol. Actually it is not at all visible after blending. Yes for the price, I was expecting more too.
